DJOKOVIC UNSURE ON DAVIS CUP

World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic is not sure whether he will be able to play for Serbia in their Davis Cup campaign due to the packed schedule in 2012, which is also an Olympic year.

Djokovic had already stated that he would not be available for selection for the first round of Davis Cup matches for Serbia against Sweden that is to be played in the country between the 10th and 12th of February. Djokovic stated that he was extremely sorry that he would not be playing for Serbia against Sweden this weekend and added that he was still unsure whether he would take part in the competition at any time this year.

Djokovic is currently in Serbia, where he has been given a hero’s welcome after overcoming Spaniard Rafael Nadal in the final of the Australian Open in the longest running final in the history of Grand Slams in the Open Era and he is looking forward to some rest before he embarks on another tour.

Novak Djokovic is scheduled to be a part of the star studded lineup that is going to take the field at Indian Wells Tennis Gardens for the Indian Wells ATP Championships scheduled to be held in the first week of March where he will renew his rivalry against Rafael Nadal. Djokovic has already stated that his prime targets for 2012 are the Olympic Games and the French Open, where a win would see him complete the rare Golden Slam of holding all four Grand Slam titles at the same time.

Djokovic also added that he is also unsure whether he would defend his crown at the Serbia Open, which is bad news for home fans who would be looking forward to seeing their hero Novak Djokovic play in front of his home fans.
